Era, French bulldog with external otitis

Clinical case:

  • The patient is brought in for examination due to the presence of reddening of the right auricle with concomitant crusted lesions;
  • For 2 weeks she presents frequent shaking of the head and scratching of the ears.

Clinical examination:

  • Otoscopic examination shows reddening of the auricle with presence of crusted and ulcerative lesions at the level of the auricle;
  • Cytological examination negative for pathogenic microorganisms.

Therapy:

  • MLS® Laser Therapy with M-VET, ‘atopic dermatitis’ program and ‘wound’ in Point modality with standard terminal (one spot at the entrance of the ear canal, two spots on the auricle, additionally one external spot on the projection of the ear canal only with ‘atopic dermatitis’ program):
    •  once a day for two consecutive days; 
    • once every other day for one application; 
    • once after 12 days.
  • No other topical or systemic therapies were associated.

Results:

  • After the first session the owner reports reduction of itching;
  • After the first two sessions initial worsening of the initial situation with reddening of the pavilion more evident;
  • 12 days after the third session the patient shows clear improvement with complete resolution of symptoms.
