MLS® Laser Therapy for Snippina, hamster with abscess

MLS® Laser Therapy in dermatology

Species: Hamster
Gender: Female
Age: 1 YO
Name: Snippina

Clinical case: Snippina is presented for an abscess at her left ear, with a small fistula leaking pus. The patient is slightly depressed and shows decreased appetite.

Therapy:

  • Antibiotic therapy with enrofloxacine 5 mg/kg sid
  • MLS® Laser Therapy using “chronic inflammation” program (Ton) every other day, associated with pus removal and medication of the site, thanks to the patient being very collaborative.

After the first treatment Snippina already looks happier, and her appetite is now regular.
After three applications the abscess had decreased and a surgical debridement could be performed. The small wound healed by second intention.

Before surgery the hamster received an additional session of MLS® Laser Therapy, as well as two days later.
After a week Snippina has been brought in for a check, the wound was healing well and afterwards the abscess never reformed.
